Sri.P.K.Mohamed , is the son of Late A K Kaderkutty Saheb, Founder Managing Director of The Western India Plywoods Ltd, one of the oldest and largest integrated wood based panel product industries in the country, and grand son of late A K Kunhi Mayan Hajee Saheb who was the pioneer in starting the wood based industries in the erstwhile Malabar district of Malabar Presidency.

After his college education at Loyolla College, Chennai, he had extensive training in wood technology for two years with special emphasis in Hardboard manufacture, in West Germany and had worked in number of leading factories there.

He joined The Western India Plywoods ltd., in the year 1962 and was Production Manager till 30.6.1974. He was appointed as wholetime Director to the Board in July 1974, Dy. Managing Director from 1.7.1979 and Jt. Managing Director from 1.7.1989. He became the Managing Director of the Company in the year 1993 and is holding the said post since then
Mr.Mohamed has travelled very extensively throughout the world during the last 5 decades to study the latest technological developments in wood working industry. He gave special emphasis to understand the latest trends in wood working industry and to translate them into actual working in the factory at Baliapatam. He regularly visits International Trade Fairs in Wood Working industry like Ligna, Hannover, and many of the Exhibitions in the Far East. The sound knowledge which he has acquired and imbibed during these visits has been put into practice for the modernization and upgrading of the production processes for the various products in WIP.

The state-of-the-art the third most modern line of the Hardboard plant which has been set up in the year 1997 was largely due to the initiative taken by Mr.Mohamed. He also successfully set up and commissioned a Pre compressed Press Board plant (PCB) for using the product as an insulating material for the power transformers in the year 2004-05. This plant is just one of the three plants of similar kind working in the country.
